Labor day week end when ever we go on a day trip we always stop for lunch…and a cocktail of course:) Main street Skaneateles Lake (/ˌskæniˈætləs/ or local /ˌskɪniˈætləs/) is one of the Finger Lakes in central New York in the United States. The name Skaneateles means long lake in one of the local Iroquoian languages. The lake is sometimes referred to as “The Roof Garden of the Lakes” because its altitude (863.27 ft or 263.12 m) is higher than the other Finger Lakes. It is 16 mi (26 km) long (17 mi or 27 km long including the bogs at the south end of the lake) and on average 0.75 mi (1.21 km) wide, with a surface area of 13.6 sq mi (35 km2), and a maximum depth of 315 ft (96 m). The cleanest of the Finger Lakes, its water is so pure that the city of Syracuse and other municipalities use it unfiltered. The City of Syracuse spends about 2.3 million dollars a year to protect lake quality, sixteen people inspecting (usually twice a year) each of the 2600 properties in the watershed, which is relatively small, compared to other Finger Lakes. William Henry Seward called it “The most beautiful body of water in the world.”Taken from Wiki i can see for miles and miles……… the prettiest finger lake.. and the cleanest. we generally only visit 2 or 3 of the 5 finger lakes.. mostly because there’s nothing to see on the other ones..unless your a fisherman.. we aren’t just couldn’t get over how low these bikes were i fell in love with these crates… maybe it was the wording.. shrimp..up here:)??? there were 2 boats working labor day week-end.. this was the dinner cruise one… it does almost the entire lake.. too long for me… and we just ate while we waited for our boat… i watched these kids. , this lake is very cold.. didn’t even hit 70.. and the temp out side was 89 the guys were playing some sort of chicken game then there’s the rude people who stand right in front of you, when you trying to shoot. .. and there’s no one else around…. WTH ok… now we r on our boat.. i think it’s the mail boat. an hour ride, and some history. this is also the lake that the CLINTONS vacationed on ..you know Bill and Hillary. but ill get back to that in my next blog… a view b4 we could get on i have always been intrigued by this setting, as many times as we have gone to this lake , i always have to get a shot.. it make me feel like I’m …some where else….in the world a church we passed on the boat ride not too many houses look like this on the lake.. theres a great deal of money here. a lot of “outsiders” come here for vacation there are more this style” house” around the lake ..than not and on our way home…. i caught this i just got the biggest kick out of this.. it sits at a local restaurant, one of our favorite, and where we always stop for lunch 42.947011 -76.429102 Skaneateles, NY 13152, USA Share this:FacebookEmailLike this:Like Loading... 16 thoughts on “Labor day week end” Add yours Looks like a good weekend!
